no verification email
i did not receive my registration email and therefor cannot approve my account. a user is registered for my email address, tho

Markus, thanks for your idea. Unfortunately, we need to use verification emails to authenticate users so that we can rely on the data we submit to our partner cities (parking spot locations, reports of illegal disabled parking, etc). If we did not verify users' email addresses, spammers could more easily submit false spot/violation data that would reduce the integrity of our database, which in turn would frustrate both our users and city partners.
